So, Save Your Self and Keep it Simple, Silly

Sometimes, well...most the time, the simplest scenario is so superior to any other supposed option, it seems silly not to take the easy way out.

If that is the best way, then why not?
Are we stubborn just to spite our Self?
Do we doubt the element of surprise?
Do we stand in our own way of simple play, and instead over-act?
Do we sabotage even the simplest tasks?

This is a simple stage, a simple act, a simple task:

1)Take your tomatoes and slice if you like
2)Sprinkle with sea salt and stir in the fold.
3)No lettuce to be found, grab some fresh herbs, as much as you can hold.
4)Drizzle a spoonful of olive oil, to settle it smooth.

See...we're done!
And we had so much fun.

No sabotage to undo.
No pity. No pressure.
No standing around in a stew.
Just some play, and a taste bud surprise; no doubt.

Request a bit more party posed onto your plate?
Confetti some seeds, any you choose, any you like.

This was the loot:
> Roma/cherry tomatoes...any you have will do but, never chill..they're a summer fruit!
> Italian parsley...any basil, cilantro, parsley version can play.
> "Real" sea salt...only the best from Utah, I choose.
> Extra virgin olive oil...you know this drill.
> Raw sesame seeds, just for contrast, or color, or fun..or none.

I ate mine as same as shown, so simple,
... and chased it with a handful or two of salty Fiesta tortilla chips; so good.
Later, I served it up as a taco topping with raves of.."is there any more"?...
You can have yours with grilled bread and maybe some feta cheese, if you please.

So, save your Self from kitchen distress and just keep it simple...Silly! ;P

You are too clever, I love how this reads, so upbeat and inspiring! Looks tasty too. This line Do we stand in our own way of simple play, and instead over-act made me both think & chuckle. Have a great week!

Love the pictures, the prose, and the recipe. I think I have that yellow colander. I just started my windowsill herb garden again and this would be a perfect chance to use my Italian parsley... or my cilantro.

Lovely! So true... one of my favorite summer treats. Maybe a mini-ball of buffalo mozzarella, a splash of balsamic... no more.

simple is ALWAYS best! and why do we complicate things? who knows. maybe because it's so simple we think we're doing it wrong??? damn, sometimes things ARE just the way they are, ARE as simple as they seem...

My frequent lunch in the summertime is a "bread salad" made very much like a caprese salad. Cubes of crusty bread (day-old bread works great!), sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil, red wine vinegar. I really could eat it every day! Very simple.

So true, Teri. Your post gave me a good laugh because I'm notorious for making things complicated. Not because I want it that way.

Your salad looks yummy! And, that's one thing I LOVE is a simple recipe. That means I can start eating right away:)

And, actually, I can eat plum or cherry tomatoes plain like grapes(lol)

My late mother-in-law was one of the best cooks I ever encountered. No high tech kitchen, a very small but neatly kept space and yet more incredible meals came from that small space day after day. The aromas from her kitchen always welcomed visitors and I think she knew how to make just about anything. Anyway, this tomato recipe was just one of the many presentations from her repertoire and my husband and I still prepare it from time to time because it is so good and simple. (Especially in August when the local tomatos are ripe!)
